Volunteers needed to make telephone check-in calls to socially isolated seniors. A remote volunteer opportunity sponsored by ALTCEW.
Aging and Long Term Care of Eastern Washington (ALTCEW) is once again recruiting volunteers to make telephone check-in calls to ensure that vulnerable seniors in our community have access to basic needs, such as food, water, and healthcare, as well as opportunities for much-needed human contact. This program was previously known as the "Senior Reassurance Calls Program," but volunteer recruitment has been on hiatus for the last few months while ALTCEW staff evaluated their needs and client outreach strategy. The program has now been relaunched under the name "Check and Connect" and the agency will be promoting it heavily to attract clients who are most in need of this service.
RSVP of Spokane County is promoting this as a remote service activity for AmeriCorps Seniors volunteers, meaning you will be eligible for RSVP benefits and be contributing to our grant outcomes while helping vulnerable elderly clients. We encourage you to contact us at rsvp@ymcainw.org or (509) 344-7787 first to let us know about your interest in volunteering for Check and Connect so we can assist you with the onboarding process and ensure your hours will be counted once you start.
NOTE: This position requires a criminal background check and use of a computer.
For additional information about Check and Connect, you can also contact ALTCEW program coordinator Jessica Lehman at jessica.lehman@dshs.wa.gov or (509) 960-7281.
