Two creative opportunities to serve remotely at a local Spokane nonprofit learning center
Spark Central is a nonprofit organization located in the Kendall Yards neighborhood of Spokane that ignites creativity, innovation, and imagination necessary for people to forge the path to their best future. They break down barriers to creativity like cost, confidence, and access by offering transformative programs, access to innovative technology, and a welcoming creative community for people of all economic backgrounds.
We are excited to share two new opportunities to volunteer remotely with Spark Central.
KIDS CODE ONLINE
Five volunteers needed
2nd & 4th Saturday of the Month · 12 - 1:30 pm
Grades 3 - 8 · Join us to explore the wonderful world of coding! Youth will be empowered to discover new computer science concepts at their own pace — and earn prizes as they learn new concepts! Kids Code Online uses the free online coding platform Scratch, which is easy to learn and to coach. If you have any experience with or interest in coding, and if you enjoy working with youth, we encourage you to volunteer for this program!
DIVERSE VOICES WRITING GROUP (ONLINE)
Volunteer facilitator needed
First Thursday of the Month · 5:30 - 7 pm
Adults & Teens · A writing group for all experience levels that supports and elevates diverse voices. When you come to this writing group, whoever you might be outside of this circle, you are now a storyteller, a maker of visions, and a story-listener, too. In this circle there is only support and caring. Because this group is intended to provide a safe space for writers of non-dominant cultures, volunteers who identify as members of a non-dominant culture will receive priority assignment to this volunteer role.
